Welcome to Culture Over Coffee, a new “cultural digest” newsletter for millennial women who are busy, overwhelmed, but want to be entertained. You’re already aware of the main news headlines, but catch up on the latest cultural happenings summarized by me, someone whose screen time almost matches her sleep time. I hope you enjoy during the weekend while you sip your morning caffeine of choice.

Our first ever Sunday Summary spans weather, pop culture, entertainment, and shockingly, not politics/hard news. Of course, the whole “Republican government sending us to war with Iran again” thing has taken over the news cycle this weekend, but what have we already forgotten that happened this week?
World’s worst blizzard hits North East (okay I’m exaggerating but it was the biggest in several years) and the theme is community. NYC mayor and fellow 34 year old Upper East Sider, Zohran Mamdani proved that if the government wanted to they would: he created the fastest snow removal structure in what feels like all of history by paying people a living wage (who would’ve thought!). New Yorkers turned out in droves to turn their art skills into snow sculptures all over the city (check out @matthewdeanstewart’s Tiktok of the “snow museum” in Brooklyn). Bostonians made sure to capture the hardest hitting news by reporting on the safety (or lack there of) of the infamous cop slide.
Harry Styles did an interesting dance during his performance at the Brit Awards on Saturday... making me wonder if he got his dancing skills from Taylor Swift and if I will regret spending so much money on his concert ticket. Time will tell I guess.
The Traitors US Season 4 ended in predictable and yet spectacular fashion that triggered so many thoughts that I actually had a bought of ADHD hyper-fixation after the finale and wrote about it’s representation of our current state of American’ society earlier this week. Read here: Traitors US Season 4: Patriarchy and white supremacy working as designed
I didn’t listen to Hilary Duff’s new album yet, but I did attempt to get concert tickets and decided that, ily Hilary, but I can’t spent $150 for one ticket in the nosebleeds of MSG at the moment.
Honorable mentions: Survivor 50 started (yes, 50 seasons), BLACKPINK released an EP (translation: 5 songs), Megan thee Stallion announced her Broadway debut, and the Met Gala theme was revealed to be “Fashion is Art” (the only reason I’m including this is because Beyonce is one of the chairs this year)

Astrology watch outs for the week ahead (as a non-astrologer who follows @chaninicholas religiously):
Last week, Mercury stationed retrograde, so if technology stops working properly or the general vibe feels off that’s probably why. Also double check any and all contracts you sign before you sign them. But according to Chani, the “golden rule” of Mercury Retrograde is they’re going to point out what was never gonna work anyway. Food for thought.
Today on my walk I noticed the moon was almost full so I wanted to know what’s up: On March 3rd, we have a Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse. Again, I usually notice weird vibes with the general public during full moons, so moon patters are something I keep aware of. Chani has a whole write up on what that means for us on her website.
I hope you enjoyed this first edition of prettybusy’s Culture Over Coffee. Feel free to forward to your friends, but don’t forget to tell them to subscribe so they don’t miss next week’s edition!
